* A resident of Oakland County

* Uninsured or under-served

* 40 years of age or older

* Under 40 years of age with a family history of breast cancer

* Under 40 years of age with a physician referral for a mammogram

What happens next?

  1. Once we receive your registration form, our central scheduling department at POH Regional Medical Center will integrate your information into the Sister & Sister Free Mammogram Program.
  2. If you have contacted us on your own without a physician referral, our registration staff will list Dr. Preston Thomas from Oakland Primary Health Services (OPHS) as your referring physician. This is simply an internal organizational step that follows our formal procedural guidelines.
  3. After we review your information thoroughly, we will contact you to schedule your mammogram screening.
  4. On the day of your screening, we’ll have you fill out a form telling us how to contact you with the results.
  5. Your mammogram screening is provided by a mammography-technician in the radiology department. We are professional, compassionate specialists who understand how you feel, so we’ll do everything we can to alleviate stress and provide peace of mind.
  6. After your visit, our team of radiologists will meticulously examine your mammography data and develop a detailed medical report based on their findings.
  7. Your mammography report will be sent to your referring physician. If there was no initial physician referral on your behalf, the report will be sent to the OPHS physician (Dr. Preston Thomas).
  8. We’ll mail mammography results in a letter directly to you.
  9. If your mammography shows positive results, we’ll refer you directly to Oakland Primary Health Services for a follow-up appointment, financial counseling, and the best medical resources for diagnostic treatment.
